Hello! Welcome to my blog. This website was set up to serve two main purposes. The first purpose was so that I could have a place to talk about anything and everything that I hear or think about that is interesting to me! The second reason is that this is a place for me to show off my web / graphic design projects. Please enjoy my blog! By the way, this page looks best in Safari! -Jake Moore

Sorry, No Round-Up

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

I’m sorry for the lack of the promised round-up folks. When I wrote the first story, I had forgotten that my college orientation would take up the next two days. So, if you can hang tight for a day or two while I sign up for my classes and junk, I’ll pump that round-up out for you guys. I’ll try and get as much info into my posts as possible, and still keep them fairly short, because I know I don’t usually like reading excessively long blog posts. That being said, I’m going to wrap this one up by saying that I’m really excited about college and getting the heck outta the house!

Update: Also, since hardly anybody is here using the internet, the download speeds are phenomenal! I’m downloading a movie from Rapidshare at 1090 KB/s, that’s over 1MB per second!!!!

Digg Is Too Complicated For Me

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Shittles
If you head on over to TUAW’s latest iPhone related post, you’ll see that they have a little yellow square that shows how man diggs the story has. I have searched on Digg, and I, for the life of me, cannot figure out how in the hell to get that little block into my posts. If someone out there is reading this and you know the secret that I don’t, please share.

Update: I found the link at the bottom of the digg page when I accidentally tried to re-digg my iPhone story. For anybody else who wanted this feature, but didn’t know how to get it, read the How-To here.

BuiltNY Notebook Bag

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

When my sister asked me what I wanted as a graduation gift, it took me a while to come up with anything other than that sweet smelling green paper. But eventually my mind lingered away from money and clung to something that I had seen a while back on one of my favorite tech news sites, Gizmodo. On May 9 they wrote a short little snippet about a neat looking backpack for your precious notebook, macbook in my case. From the image they provided, it almost looked like a bullet-proof vest, but only for your back. You can view their story here. So, I told my sister that I wanted this neat-o macbook backpack. She ordered it for me, and I got it in the mail just yesterday. I chose the stylish black rather than the pukey Olive Green, or the simply disgusting Wood pattern. The first thing I did was strap it on my back, and take some pretty keen photos! Keep reading for some details and pictures.

Broken Code: Fixed

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

A couple weeks ago I was struggling to get the gallery to display images the way that I wanted to. I wanted the built in Wordpress Gallery, but instead of showing the full size image in a new window/tab, I wanted it to pop up in a Lightbox. I tried a bunch of plug-ins, but they all sucked. So I installed the ‘Lightbox 2′ plug-in, which makes lightbox accessible to wordpress, then I fiddled around inside one the wp-includes/media.php file. I found a fix for my problem, but it broke my index pages code. When I say broken, I don’t mean all fucked up, it just made my pages fail xHTML validation, because it tried to make every image a lightbox image, but I only wanted gallery images to be lightboxes. If you’re interested in how I fixed the error, hit the jump..
